About Us
Chef Cummings' career started in the late 80's at the
Le Vichyssois  French restaurant in Lakemoor Illinois.  In
1988 he traveled to France and worked at the Chez Valade
pastry shop for two years. He met Isabelle there and  
married her before returning to the states.  He then went
back to  Le Vichyssois to work as sous chef and Isabelle as
a waitress.  He attended the College of Lake County and
received an associates degree in food service management.  
 Subsequently he worked in the pastry departments at The
Hotel Sofitel O'Hare,  The Marriott Linconshire Resort, and
The Wyndham Hamilton Hotel.  
Ian and Isabelle moved to Iowa in 1995 to be closer to
family, and worked for the Godwin Family Restaurants for
the next 9 years. The last five years Ian was the Chef for

Winifreds Catering
and Isabelle was a caterer.
Ian and Isabelle opened Croissant Du Jour on March 8th
2004.  They have two children, Christophe and Alyson.
